- Strong team culture
- Leadership, accountability, and sportsmanship

- Community and player accessibility
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
Mt. Hood VBC values and respects all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic background, or ability. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where every athlete can thrive.
Mt. Hood Volleyball Club – Playing Time Policy
Playing time is not guaranteed to be equal, especially at competitive levels. It is earned through effort, attitude, attendance, skill level and performance in both practices and games.
Coaches consider multiple factors when determining playing time, including:
- Practice performance and work ethic
- Skill level and position needs
- Game strategy and opponent matchup
- Team attitude and commitment
- Adherence to club values and expectations
Timberline Teams – Playing Time Policy
Timberline teams represent the highest and most competitive level within our program. These teams are built for athletes who are committed to high standards, advanced training, and competing to win.
Power League & National Tournaments
Power League and National tournaments are played to win.
Playing time during these events is not equal and is determined by the coaching staff.
Lineups and substitutions are based on what gives the team the best chance to compete and succeed, including factors such as performance, matchups, consistency, effort, and team needs.
College exposure events require lineups that maximize competitiveness and showcase athletes in roles that best serve the team.
Friendship Tournaments
Friendship tournaments are defined as events that are not Power Leagues or National tournaments and do not have college coaches in attendance.
These tournaments may provide additional playing time opportunities for developing athletes.
Coaches may use these events to evaluate growth, build depth, and give players experience in competitive match situations.
Playing time is still not guaranteed but may be more flexible than at Power League events.
Playing Time Philosophy - Regional Teams
Playing time is earned. It is the coach's discretion and not guaranteed.
Timberline athletes are expected to compete in practice, demonstrate preparedness, and contribute positively to team culture.
Our goal is to balance team success, athlete development, and competitive integrity while preparing players for high-level volleyball.
This policy ensures transparency, consistency, and fairness while honoring the competitive nature of Timberline teams.
Regional Meadows Teams
At Mt. Hood Volleyball Club, our developmental teams are designed to help players grow in skill, confidence, and game understanding. We believe that on-court experience is essential to development, and we are committed to giving every player the opportunity to contribute and improve throughout the season.
However, playing time is not guaranteed to be equal. It is influenced by a combination of factors, including:
Attendance and effort at practices
Attitude, coach-ability, and teamwork
Skill level and game readiness
Focus, communication, and execution during matches
Commitment to learning and improving
Power League and National tournaments are played to win. Playing time during these events is not equal and is determined by the coaching staff.
All players will receive meaningful playing time over the course of the season, and coaches will make every effort to ensure that athletes have the chance to apply what they’ve learned in game settings. The goal is to balance individual development with team goals, while preparing athletes for the next level of play.
If players have questions about their role or playing time, we encourage open and respectful communication between the player and coach first. Parents may request a meeting separately and outside of game day
Questions about playing time should be handled respectfully and through proper channels:
Players are encouraged to speak directly with their coach first.
If further clarification is needed, a parent may schedule a meeting (never immediately after a match).
The club encourages open and respectful communication, with the athlete’s growth as the priority.
Zig Zag & Alpine Teams – Playing Time Policy
Zig Zag and Alpine teams are considered developmental teams, designed to help athletes learn, grow, and gain meaningful game experience in a competitive environment.
Playing Time Philosophy
Developmental athletes will be provided opportunities to play on the court throughout the season. Playing time cannot be equal, as volleyball is not a timed sport and situations vary by match. Coaches will make a good-faith effort to ensure each athlete has a defined role and opportunities to contribute during competition.
Match & Tournament Considerations
Playing time decisions are influenced by game flow, opponent level, rotations, and team needs. Coaches may adjust lineups to support development, build confidence, and reinforce skills practiced in training. While opportunities will be provided, playing time is not guaranteed in every set or match.
Athlete Responsibility
Athletes are expected to attend practices, give consistent effort, remain coachable, and support teammates.
Growth, attitude, and preparation strongly influence opportunities on the court.
Program Goal
Our goal for Zig Zag and Alpine teams is to create a positive learning environment where athletes develop skills, confidence, and understanding of the game while contributing meaningfully to their team.
If players have questions about their role or playing time, we encourage open and respectful communication between the player and coach first. Parents may request a meeting separately and outside of game day
