Sue Doan-Founder, Club Director & Head Coach

Sue is the Founder and Executive Director for Mt. Hood Volleyball Club. With 36 years of coaching experience in volleyball, she is passionate about helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the court. She began my coaching journey in 1988 as a High school varsity volleyball coach. She has coached at Centennial High School, Corbett High School and now Estacada High School. She is also the Varsity volleyball coach for the boys team at Estacada High School. Her coaching philosophy revolves around three core principles: hard work, teamwork, and growth. I believe that success comes from consistent effort and a positive attitude, both individually and as a team. She strives to create an environment where athletes can learn, make mistakes, and improve every day, while also cultivating a strong sense of unity and support among teammates. She is committed to fostering not only the physical skills required to excel in volleyball—such as proper technique, strategy, and fitness—but also the mental aspects, including resilience, focus, and sportsmanship. Watching athletes grow both as players and individuals is the most rewarding part of it for her.
