Susan Doan named Oregon’s Volleyball Coach of the Year!
On behalf of the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association (OACA), we would like to congratulate you on being selected as the Oregon nominee for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) 2023-24 “Coach of the Year” award for Girls Volleyball.
Each year the OACA selects one coach from each of the 10 boys and 10 girls sports offered in our state. Each state award winner then becomes eligible for Section 8 awards competing against coaches in their respective sport from Washington, Montana, Idaho, Alaska and Wyoming. Section 8 winners then compete for National Coach of the Year against representatives from the other 7 sections of the United States. Oregon has been very well represented, winning numerous Sectional and National Awards over the past 20 years.
The following criteria was used in the selection process: “Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character and carry the endorsement of the respective state high school association. We want them to be not only successful in their respective sports but also as individuals in their schools and communities. Longevity in coaching is also an important consideration.”
Sue’s award highlights her ability to lead, inspire, and develop players to achieve their full potential. This success directly reflects the quality of leadership within our club.
